There are two types of ice-crack patterns: single-layer (fine) crackle and thick crackle.
These two processes differ, resulting in distinct surface textures.
Single-layer crackle mosaics feature a thin layer of crackle glaze on the surface.
The crack patterns are relatively fine,
yet the cracks themselves are longer than those found in the thick crackle style, resembling the veining of natural stone.
Both types are suitable for swimming pools, interior walls, and outdoor mosaic murals.
Because the glaze layer is thinner and lighter,
it is easy to distinguish between the two types when comparing them side-by-side.
There is also a difference in price, with the thick crackle variety being more expensive than the thin version.
